PresentationA personal presentation of the artist and webmasterI was born 1964 in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and have lived there since. Most people say they think I neither look nor act my age. 190 cm (6'3), some 95 kg (210 lbs), in decent shape despite a bit extra weight I'm working on getting rid of. I have short, blonde hair and mixed-color eyes. I usually dress proper without overdoing it, preferably black and white, never jeans and usually no tie, but suit, tuxedo or tails if required. People trying to be nice say they think I look good, and when I have my better days I almost believe them. I'm a M.Sc. in chemical engineering (1988, biochemistry and analytical chemistry) from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and a Ph.D. in medical sciences (1996, biochemical toxicology) from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The work that has been paying my rent since 1990 is scientific research about cancer and teaching about medicine, chemistry and computers. My interests cover a wide range, like humans, computers, photography, 3D graphics (surprise!), web design, BDSM, astronomy, oceanology, paleontology, history, mythology, model railroading, music, dance, hiking and bicycling in both cities and nature, to give a few highlights. Ideologically I'm a pragmatic, both when it comes to religion and politics, and don't feel quite at home under any label. I neither drink nor smoke, not because of any ideology or concern, but simply because I don't need it. I don't believe in astrology myself, but am a cancer and a (Chinese) dragon. I started working with 3D graphics back in 1979, just a couple of years after I started working, or rather playing, with computers. My first computer, or actually my father's, was state-of-the-art then, with 16 kB of work memory (compared to 1,5 GB in my present), a mass-storage device in the form of a tape-recorder which could save 320 kB on a 30 minute cassette tape (250 GB present), an 8-bit processor working at 2 MHz (32-bit, 2 GHz present), and a black-and white display with 240x240 pixels resolution (16 million colors, 1680x1050 pixels present). In 1980 I got a new computer with twice as much memory, 16-color display and a 2 x 640 kB disk drive, and then it felt like there were no limits anymore. In 1981 I wrote a two-pass (primary light reflections and shadows) rendering program for the new computer because I wanted to "see" a spacecraft I had mad blueprints for. If I had known then that such programs only were available for large computers and cost tens of thousands of dollars, realizing the commercial potential of my little hack, my future could have looked quite different. However, school, girls, work and other interests got the better of me, and my 3D graphics career took a long break. Not until 1997 I started working with 3D graphics again, for a website project I got into then. Since then I have been working with the 3D programs RayDream Studio 5, POV-Ray, Carrara 1, 2, 4 and 5, and Poser 2, 4 and 5, gradually increasing my skills. Finally I got into my mid-life crisis or something, decided to re-start my career and try to focus on what I find fun and challenging, and since 3D-graphics is one of my major interests, well, here I am... |
